Maria and Joe Pedicini have been managing projects and providing environmental advice on approvals, compliance, risk and liability across numerous industry sectors for over 25 years. They work diligently to uphold Environmental Projects’ core values – quality, integrity and respect – and, with the firm’s operations, technical, production and communications teams, provide bespoke technical teams to deliver projects, services and advice tailored to your business, industry, infrastructure project, mining or resource development.

Maria Pedicini has extensive experience in environmental impact assessment (EIA), regulation, compliance and due diligence, risk assessment and management, and in auditing and developing quality environmental and health and safety management systems.

Maria has over 25 years of experience working in the industry, including in mining, manufacturing, oil and gas, petroleum, earthworks and construction, urban development, airports, and large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. She has also worked in government policy and regulation and has a strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulations, policies and standards across Australia.

She is an advocate for progressive and ethical environmental practice and is actively involved with EIANZ.  Maria has a strong reputation in the field and has provided input into industry and university advisory boards and committees.

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), Certified Environmental Practitioner Site Contamination Specialist (CEnvP (SC);  Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical), Graduate Diploma (Environmental Engineering); Graduate Certificate in Environmental Compliance.

Joe has over 30 years’ experience as an environmental professional and his knowledge of environmental engineering is highly regarded. He has maintained a strong focus in this area including pollution prevention, incident response, contaminated site management, land development, hazardous materials management, industrial facility audits and risk assessments, environmental monitoring and management programs, waste and wastewater treatment, and technical studies associated with meeting conditions for acquisition, divestment, relinquishment of leases/tenements and understanding liability issues.

More recently, Joe is increasingly being asked to  assist in scopes of work associated with compliance and regulatory matters, such as EPA orders, and specialist government industry taskforce matters.

We also maintain licenses  for a range of applications (including geospatial and data management products) to deliver work in a smart and efficient manner. Because digital security matters to us all, we have invested in appropriate licensing for all our devices and we continuously update our protocols to ensure we are vigilant and can respond to any emerging issues.

Our financial systems are managed by a Certified Practising Accountant whose focus is on streamlining processes, tracking performance and guiding the Directors and their commercial advisory team to achieve budget controls and accountabilities.

Tahlia is committed to delivering high-quality environmental impact assessment, environmental management, efficient fieldwork programs, monitoring and reporting. Tahlia is a key resource, working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, in environmental investigations and assessment associated with environmental planning, development approvals and site contamination assessments. She has a good understanding of legislation, regulation and guidelines and assists our clients with stakeholder engagement and communications for wider audiences.
Sophie Jay

Sophie has a strong understanding of the concepts of process and equipment design, as well as the various methods of analysis these designs should undergo to ensure safety and sustainability. As part of her honours project, she conducted extensive research into the production of bio-based products such as biochar and biofuels.
She consistently produces high-quality, detailed, and outcome-oriented work. She has proven to be an effective and efficient project planner and manager, coordinating inputs from multidisciplinary teams, to meet overall outcomes for major capital projects. She is experienced in environmental impact assessment, management and monitoring.
Chathuri Nisansala

Chathuri is a postgraduate with experience in aquaculture and fisheries; applications in GIS and remote sensing; marine pollution prevention, control and management; research and development; and WHS trainings.
She has been using geospatial data analysis, modelling and mapping for her research and work since 2012 and she also has experience in applying and analysing GIS and remote sensing in aquaculture site suitability, modelling and mapping biological and physical parameters on sea surface, flood susceptibility modelling and groundwater recharge potential modelling. More recently she has been working on mapping environmental constraints, vegetation, groundwater contours and plumes, and complex phased site sampling plans. She has strong technical skills in data analysis using ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine and ENVI.
Vitalis Ejiugwuebo

Vitalis has a range of qualifications that make him a suitable all-rounder for environmental management, impact assessment, research and data analysis for our projects. He is a member of EIANZ working towards his certification as an Environmental Practitioner and has specific interests in ecological studies, analytical chemistry, impact assessment, management plans and EMS and work health safety and wellbeing. His broad experience overseas and locally is valuable to our projects, and our clients’ projects, for both planning and operational phases. Vitalis is continuously building his skills, knowledge and understanding of South Australian and Australian environmental legislation and regulatory framework. Vitalis provides important support to our impact assessment and approvals team to undertake research, database setup, analysis, information compilation and delivery of documentation and reports.

He is hard-working, not scared of challenges faced from time to time with field work and he is able to confidently problem-solve, has meticulous attention to detail, and aspires to achieve good outcomes for all stakeholders and the environment.

Nigel has a huge interest in the natural environment. His qualifications and interests, combined with his extensive experience in customer service, communications, training and use of technology, is a good basis for his current role as an Environmental Field Technician. He is an important part of our field teams conducting tasks in environmental monitoring, site investigation and assessment programs at metropolitan, regional and remote sites in South Australia, for a range of industries and clients. He has experience in soil, groundwater, vapour, and hazardous materials, such as ACM. He is also a photographer and artist in his own right, which brings to our projects and teams a new perspective and different way of thinking to do things better.

Dmitri has studied Literature at the University of Adelaide and has come to gain knowledge in the environmental sciences and environmental humanities through work experience gained in current roles at the University of Adelaide in both Geography and Infrastructure. Dmitri’s language-based roles usually focus on honing documents and research; his main skills include editing, proofreading, grammar, syntax, as well as broader research in interdisciplinary fields centred around climate change, sustainability, and environment.
Dmitri undertakes writing, editing and proof-reading tasks of many kinds of documents including various types of reports we deliver, literature reviews, journal articles, and PhD theses, sustainability reports (policy, NGER, UN SDGs). He also has experience in data analysis for subject matter associated with resources, energy, production, consumption, waste, and pollution, as well as undertaking high-level research in sustainability, ecological change, and adaptation.

Lisa Bailie is a senior professional in the environmental field with over 20 years’ experience in project management, environmental legislation and approvals, environmental assessment and management, environmental management systems, water quality assessment, acid sulfate soil investigations and regulatory compliance. Lisa has experience in the federal legislative environment, as well as a strong understanding of, and experience in, dealing with state legislation in SA, Qld, NSW and NT.
Lisa is an excellent communicator with advanced skills in project management, client and government liaison, and the authoring of impact assessments and environmental management plans. Lisa has been involved in projects and seconded on-sites and within organisations for various industry sectors including mining, infrastructure (including roads, rail and ports), urban development, large multidisciplinary projects and in all tiers of government.

She has worked on a number of projects involving soil and groundwater assessments and is experienced in a wide range of fieldwork techniques and data compilation, presentation, assessment and reporting processes.
Richard Lewis

Richard is a consultant with experience in on-site WHS&E management and monitoring, including risk assessment, identification and mitigation, auditing and reporting, relationship management, conflict resolution, staff development and retention along with experience in remote locations.
He has both theoretical and practical skills in basic GIS, economic analysis, strategic management, sustainable resource management theory and environmental impact assessment. During Richard’s time at Flinders University he achieved two Dean’s Letters of Commendation, two Chancellor’s Letters of Commendation, and the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) Award. At university, Richard was also accepted into the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resource Management Board’s Coastal Ambassadors Program, one of only twenty individuals accepted each year. Richard was invited into the Golden Key Honour Society in 2013 and became a member of EIANZ in 2016.

Chathuri has contributed to several biodiversity and ecological surveys on land, coast and sea including measuring physical chemical biological parameters of soil and water on- and off-site, collecting sea water, freshwater and soil samples using different sampling techniques. She also has experience in laboratory settings using laboratory equipment.
